With the shared influences of bands such as Alice in Chains, STP, and Soundgarden, their styles gelled instantly. The song "Dose" from their debut cd was written in that very first session and has had little revision since then.
Mixing keyboard laiden passages ala' Pink Floyd (another big influence of Zach) and heavy hitting drop D riffs, Trudge put a new twist on the grunge m.o.
In 1997, Steve and Zach booked time at Long Island Recording Co. in Lexington KY and cut a six song demo to shop to the labels. Although there was interest, the labels insisted on a full band. So, Trudge the band was born. After playing around the area for some time, there were apparent personality clashes in the band, and a revolving door of bassists and drummers began.
Frustrated with the search, Zach and Steve took a gamble and broke up the band. The decision was made that the group worked better and song quality was better when left up to the two of them.
Taking Trudge into the 21st century, Zach and Steve have brought new influences such as the Chemical Brothers into their mix of full on heavy rock and are currently back in the studio with a slew of new ideas guaranteed to push rock back into the mainstream where it belongs.
